Storm Absolute

The Storm Absolute high-performance bowling ball will absolutely improve your scores! This ball takes a single-density asymmetric core and combines it with the R2S Deep Hybrid coverstock. The core design decreases the amount of mass where the thumb hole is typically drilled. This design function helps the ball respond better to friction on the lane due to increased intermediate differential. The R2S Deep Hybrid coverstock formula allows a cleaner approach through the front of the lane allowing for more angle and aggression through the pins on heavy oil.

Pros:

Great for low rev bowlers. 12 to 14 mph

Cons:

None so far after 6 months of use

Best Uses:

Low Rev Bowlers, hook, and straight bowlers .

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

More strikes than ever before! More 200 and over games also .

I upgraded. to this 15-lb ball, from a 14lb (which is an Asymmetrical Hybrid in the Storm high end line up). I only need one ball now since; I can get plenty of strikes. and also, plenty of spares. It is an all-purpose ball for me. This hook potential for me on my first throw is. strong since this ball starts to hook left three quarters down lane.at the pins in heavy oil. Also, with the spares (The dreaded 10 pin) is easy to hit, since I can throw this ball straight at it even with a fingertip grip. My average is up from 150 to 190 in only 5 months. That React Gloss finish. keeps the oil from absorbing in the cover. I get plenty of pin action. even with my slower speed! When it hits that pocket the sound of the strike is loud and powerful. The Sentinel core it has inside really drives right on through that center 5 pin with ease. I never owned a very expensive Bowling ball like this one, but it is worth the price as long as you enjoy yourself and bowl better. Hope it works for you too! Good Luck!

Love it

My first "high performance" ball that I have ever had and I've only been regularly bowling these last few weeks and I chose this ball because it is absolutely beautiful. Even more surprising how much my game had improved after just 2 games with it. After figuring out how the ball likes to move and react I improved my my personal best from 136 to 174 in 2 games. Not a pro, not a league person but someone who is trying to bowl regularly seeing how something like a new ball and a new grip style can change your game blows my mind. I would recommend this ball to anyone.

defines continuation

Cons:

took me a minute to find the right surface for me.

Best Uses:

slower speed players will LOVE this ball.

Bottom Line:

Absolute-ly

This ball took a little time to for me to understand. The motion is greatly different than anything else we have in the line. I messed around with surfaces for a while until I matched up with one. Out of the box I was not a fan. The ball was SUPER clean and once it hit the spot it went sideways. I needed it to be much sooner so I hit it with a 1500 pad. I used it there for a while, but It gave me a motion where I preferred the balls around it. I later hit it with a 3000 pad and BOOM, there it was. It then gave me a motion that was EXACTLY what I needed. I was able to start the night with it, playing straighter and continue chasing it left. Some nights I even loft the cap with it and it never hooks early and still peels off the spot. This new core and cover combo really allows the PSO to fine tune reaction with layout but it never hooks and bails!

For me, Misunderstood at first but now its LOVE!

Storm Absolute Ball Review

The Absolute has a low RG value of 2.48 a medium differential of 0.050 and a high intermediate differential of 0.021.
Storm came out with a brand-new Sentinel Core with a R2S Deep Hybrid cover which is also brand new stateside.
The Sentinel Core first single-density asymmetric core in the Storm line since the Lucid. The design intent of the Sentinel weight block was to maintain the dynamic integrity after drilling by missing the weight block.
By missing the weight block you will have extra intermediate differential and lower RG which makes the Absolute respond to friction more effectively thus creating more continuation through the pins.
The R2S Deep Hybrid cover is cleaner through the fronts as compared to the flagship R2S formula, which in turn yields a more aggressive shape to the pocket and more overall angle through the pins. By having such a clean cover gives you an advantage to be able to use different surfaces to create a weaker or stronger response to the lane which will be explained throughout the rest of the review.
I did a ball comparison to the 900 Global Reality Check at 1000 grit and the Storm Absolute at 3000 on a 42 ft house shot, 25 ml of oil. The layout chosen 65 x 6 x 20.
In comparison to the 900 Global Reality Check, the Reality Check is more rounded and stronger than the Absolute by at least 5-6 boards at the box surface, 2-3 boards with the Absolute at 3000 but at 1000 the Absolute catches up and is basically an immediate ball down once the Reality Check Starts to burn up.
As per the surface adjustments, the Absolute at box surface which is 500>2,000>4000, reacta gloss which will go really long but will be great on the medium to dry conditions.
At 3,000 will be a few boards quicker and will be a few boards weaker then your benchmark ball.
At 1,000 which is my personal favorite will be an immediate ball down when your benchmark ball starts to burn up and leave corner pins.

Here is a few shots of the Absolute on 40’ Abbey Road against the 900 Global Reality Check. As you will see the Absolute is a longer and sharper but the Reality Check is more rounder and starts up a little quicker.
In the bag, will be the Storm Super Nova, Storm Absolute, Storm Dark Code, Storm Hyroad Pearl

Pros:

Very smooth and reactive on the backend

Bottom Line:

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

"Absolutely" does not disappoint. Second week throwing in league and loving every bit of it.

I did have to hit it with a 1500 grit pad after the first few throws but it's been perfect ever since. It's definitely helping me improve my game and my average is definitely going up.

I have the Columbia top speed 300 with this ball be okay with my arsenal I was thinking what is the difference could you just help me a little bit?

3/8/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Hi Rosie, the Storm Absolute is designed for heavier oil and reacts earlier than the Columbia 300 Top Speed. You could add the Storm Absolute as your first ball and then use the Columbia 300 Top Speed for more length as the lanes break down a bit.

Question:

How does absolute work for a lower rev bowler on heavy oil and longer oil patterns

4/8/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

If you are a low rev bowling with a slower ball speed this ball should work pretty well as described and give you good length with smoother backend hook. However, if you have lower revs but a higher ball speed then this may give you trouble because it was already designed to go longer on the lanes and it will not have much time to hook on the backend if you have a higher ball speed and lower rev rate.

Question:

I toss the Zen and the Eternity and the UC2 . Do you think the Absolute would be to similar to add to the bag ? I am a stroker low revs and 14 to 15 MPH ball speed and throw mostly on fresh house shots in leagues

6/21/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The hybrid coverstock on the Absolute will give you a slightly earlier read than the pearl coverstocks on the other bowling balls you had. All will still have good length and this ball does have a very similar strength weight block compared to the other balls you have. I am not sure there is a big enough gap to justify adding this ball to your other three because they do have a lot of similar features to give them similar length and hook potential with the only noticeable difference being the coverstock material but that still may not be a huge jump from what you have. If your Zen was the 4000 Grit out of the box then I would say that is probably your closest comparison to this.

Question:

I am a senior league bowler currently rolling a 15lb Fireroad with a Hustle as a second ball. I am a stroker type style with a ball speed between 12 to 13 mph. When the lanes start to dry I swicth to the Hustle and it works ok. I would to find a ball that hits like the fireroad in med conditions but in dry conditions. What ball would you recommend to fit a stroker on dry lanes?

10/15/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

The Fire Road was listed as a mid performance ball for medium oil conditions. It had a pearl coverstock and polished finish to give you good length. The Hustle is a mid performance ball rated for light to medium oil conditions so it is slightly less hook but not a huge step down for when the lanes get light to drier. I think the next step down to get something better in lighter to drier lanes would be something like the Tropical Surge which is listed as an entry performance ball. It is mostly listed as entry performance because it works more in lighter conditions and has a slightly lower hook potential overall. But in dry conditions this may be a better option than the Hustle.

Question:

I am looking to get back into bowling. When I was bowling I had a ball that went straight then hooked on the back end. Will this ball be good for me

11/11/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

This ball does have good length and a strong backend hook but this ball is a high performance ball designed mostly for heavy oil only. I would only suggest this ball if you planned on having at least a 2-3 bowling ball arsenal as you are going to need something to handle more medium oil conditions and also something more for lighter conditions. Some bowlers like to start with a more medium oil type ball as an all around ball and then later build from that to get pieces as needed. There could be a chance that you very rarely see heavier oil conditions and this ball may hook too much in medium to lighter oil conditions to really get the performance you would need.

Will this ball be good for someone who throws 13mph

12/19/2023 - By

Question:

Is this ball good for a higher rev bowler with an average speed about 14mph?

12/26/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

If you are more rev dominant then you may prefer a ball that gives you good length so the ball does not roll out too early on the lanes and not finish well. The Absolute does have a polished finish to help give this good length so it should be a good fit for a rev dominant bowler.

I have a Venom Shock and will be adding a Hammer Hazmat to my Arsenal. As a stroker with a lower speed and rev rate, will the Absolute still work alright on mid to lighter oil lanes?

12/28/2023 - By

Have an answer to this question?

Answer:

Unfortunately the Absolute is a higher performance ball with a very high hook potential that needs heavier oil conditions to work best in. This ball would be too strong for medium to lighter amounts of oil.
